Lego My Lego

Itty bitty pieces make big imaginations.  In the past weeks, new Lego lovers were born in Greta and Jack. I am thrilled. Derek and I both played with Legos as kids. I Think they are better at it than I was. All I remember is building the same make of racecar to torture my hampster with repeatedly...Poor Cinnamon.

So far, Greta has built a petstore, and many houses with elevators.  She even integrates her tiny Lalaloopsy dolls and pet.  Jack has made rockets and car/planes.  Look out, world.

She smiles because she has yet to step on one.

He can barely stop for a picture.

They get to fill up that tub with all the little pieces they can fit.  Derek researched the best way to pack it all in.

Peeking through portals.

And Then There Was This Time....

Jack dressed up for dinner.  I thought he looked like Sportacus and he said, "No, ice skater."

So, we had popsicles for dessert. And, those are leg warmers on his arms. Just so ya know.

Toofers

Lil Snarly lost another tooth!  This one was a breeze and came out almost on its own.  The Tooth Fairy left a trail of Pixie Dust through the house. Mimsy looks like she has been clubbing.

Getting Ready

She is sitting right beside the couch watching Franklin and chewing on a rubbery bracelet in her new school clothes.  She has on a little pleated khaki skirt with a black polo, knee socks and glittery maryjanes.  She has her hair pulled back in a pink bow, but it hasn't been brushed all day.

Just before this moment I looked at her and had tears. She said, "You are crying." I told her it was because I remember holding her all day long when she was a little baby and she has grown up so fast that sometimes I wish I could hold her again just for a minute.  She said I could always hold her.  I did. And I rocked her in my arms and I told her that the world was all hers and I was so excited for her because I know she is going to do great things.  She is so brave and so smart.  She is so kind and also compassionate.  She is a good friend.  She is teaching me so much as she is about to start her journey through school.

Firestation

We went to the fire station again this year.  I think it is always good to go and see the fire people.  Greta and Jack think they are so nice, and they are.  We saw where they live and we saw the trucks and got to sit up high in the driver's seat.  We also got to see how they get dressed and that they are not scary in the mask and tanks.  They asked us all what number we dial if we need help.  Greta said, "913" Everyone chuckled....That is our area code.  Close, but no cigar, Greta.  She was mortified and still can't believe she said that.

A bit bright.

Bell.

Boots in pants.

Right where you left them.

Little people, big truck.

Home in the Summertime

For many many mornings I have stayed home with my babies. So many mornings have gone by that they are no longer babies.  So many mornings have gone by that I sometimes forget to see how lucky I have been to have this special time with Greta and Jack.  Long mornings in jammies are my favorites - no big plans, no big rush.  Once Greta started Preschool we lost a few of those mornings because we had to brush hair, dress and run out the door.  A schedule is great, but sometimes slow mornings are best.

This is a cat fort.  Mimsy is in there and I checked to make sure she was not squished.  She liked the privacy, but thought it was a tad claustrophobic.

This is a cave where the abominable snowman lives.  He has a nasty voice, but is nice.  That is just how he talks.  And he is surprised to have company.  - Greta

This is the picture of a lazy morning.

These are our mornings. I hope they go by slowly.
