Legend Of Sleepy Hollow

We woke up to the most beautiful fall day - blue skies to contrast the vibrant leaves, and the sun was glorious. We planned on meeting friends at the KC Pumpkin Patch for some fall fun with the babies. It was the perfect day for it...and then it got even better! We drove out and found the pumpkin patch, stepped out of the car and loaded up the stroller. And with that, the wind picked up, the sun went behind a cloud and a gray mist crept up from the creek by the pumpkins. I felt like we were about to encounter the headless horseman. I know he is looking for a new head this time of year. We will try to carve him a good replacement!

Pajama Party

Greta and Jack went to their first pajama party! Cohen, Tara and Jason invited us over for hot and spicy chili, sweet cornbread, cheeses and drinks. It was in the midst of the mass of cold and rainy weather we have been getting this fall. It was so nice to snuggle up with a warm mug and baby in footie pajamas.

We played and played and then filled our tummies. Tara made chicken and sweet potatoes and buttery corn on the cob for the kids. And we all saved room for the homemade peanut butter and chocolate brownies with ice cream. We may have stumbled onto a great way to get together as the weather gets colder and colder!

A New Friend

My very good friends, Rachel and David, are going to have a baby tomorrow morning. I have this big smile on my face thinking about Rachel holding her new daughter. Will she have Rachel's eyes and thick dark hair? Will she look like her big brother, Liam, who was almost regal at birth? He was perfect and gorgeous. I am out right thrilled for them in this special time.

I never knew what it would be like to have two babies until it happened. Now I know that it is not love divided in two, it is love multiplied.

Greta and Jack, and Derek and I are waiting patiently for Ivy! God bless them!

The boy knows what he wants

Jack makes us laugh! He had is one year well check and weighs 23 pounds and is just short of 32 inches tall. What a big boy! He did great with Dr. Hartman and showed off his baby skills by walking around and climbing in the chair and sitting like a good little boy. He waved and said hi and pointed at the wallpaper in the room and said ball. He also let the nurse have it for those dern vaccinations. He pointed at her and stuck his lip out. So pitiful!

Jack Jack Attack

Our Jack Jack turned one. We celebrated him with a party themed, "Jack Jack Attack". No words can explain better how the first year of his life unfolded for us.

Jack, for your party, Derek made the invitations look like "cognitive development flash cards" They invited our guests to "A party he will never remember and you will never forget!" We also sent a dvd of Pixar's Jack Jack Attack and made little black Incredible's masks for the guests. We had streamers and balloons and a lemon cake with raspberry lemonade to drink.

We dressed you in a tie, and did your hair. And, the whole time I marveled at how you played with two year olds like you are one already. You can't wait to be a big kid. Sorry, buddy, I am going to put you in onsies for as long as possible. You are still my baby, and you are a super baby, at that.

All or Nothin

We were having a wild morning of playing and laughing and then, just like that, he was asleep. I held him for a bit while Greta brushed his hair and laid toys on him. Then I put him in a little tent that we let the kids play in. And, he slept and slept... and that is rare.

Maxipad Shoes

They are not for running in, and are not good in the rain... Best for wearing around the house... When you are not expecting company.
